Nicknamed “Six Feet of Sunshine,” Kerri Walsh and teammate, Misty May-Treanor have been called “the greatest beach volleyball team of all time.” Along with partner Misty, Kerri had one of the longest and most impressive winning streaks in professional sports after winning 89 straight matches on the AVP Tour as well as the international circuit between 2003 and 2004. In 2007 her 20 wins (domestic and international combined) tied her with Misty for the most wins in a single season.     New Zealand’s Mahe Drysdale and Czech Ondrej Synek went out early in the Men’s Single Skulls competition and made it a two-man race until the end. Synek had the lead for most of the beginning of the race, only to be outkicked by Drysdale after 1000m. This left hometown favorite Alan Campbell in third position, to the excitement of the British crowd at Eton Dorney.

    The good news: Gong Jinjie and Guo Shuang of China broke the Track Cycling Team Sprint world record in qualifying Thursday. The bad news: the duo was disqualified from their winning performance in the finals, demoting them to second place. The team showed some impressive riding throughout the event, ultimately landing them in first place. They unfortunately made a pass a bit prematurely, leaving them disqualified from the top spot in the event. This meant the German duo earned the top position while the Chinese were lowered to second and the Australian team placed third.

    The US Women’s Rowing Eight Team hasn’t lost a race since 2005. If that’s not a dynasty, who knows what is. That winning streak included the top performance in Beijing in 2008. With all eyes on the defending champions, the American women didn’t disappoint. On a windy, stormy day in London, the US Women’s Eight Team won their event in a time of 6 minutes, 10.59 seconds.
