When did you first start training in life? Where and why?
I started swimming at 8 or 9, and triathlon at 15. My Dad was in the RAF, so it was the pool at St Athan.

One sport wasn’t enough? What got your into the multi-sport arena?
I was getting a bit bored with swimming and was offered the chance to do a triathlon by Chris Goulden (of Welsh Triathlon) and I loved it!

When did you turn pro?
I trained full time from 18 and from 22 I started earning some money.

What are the events, wins, memories that stand out most throughout your career so far?
Other than Vancouver in 2008 and Hyde park last year, Salford in 2005 was my first World Cup podium so holds great memories and so does the noise at the run turn round with everyone banging the sponsors boards. And I think Queenstown Worlds in 2003 gave me great belief – I was 5th but it was a top class junior field.

What is your best discipline and why?
I’m very even across all three!

If you had a discipline that needed work, which would it be and why?
My technical skills on the bike, cornering and descending.

If there is one thing that people in the industry would recognize you by, what would that be?
My running style. It may not be the prettiest but it’s effective!

The desire to get the best out of myself

Mooloolaba – never raced well there probably because it’s usually the first race of the year

I'd be a nurse.
