Bio

A former mountain biker who won the silver medal at the 2001 Under-23 world championship, Ryder “Weight-of-a-Nation” Hesjedal rode himself into the top tier of cycling in 2010. After team leader Vande Velde was out of the Tour de France with an early crash, the Canadian rose to the challenge to take up the GC fight, claiming seventh overall in biggest race in the world. This following a win in the final stage of the Tour of California, a second in the Amstel Gold race and two top-fives on home soil in the Quebec ProTour races.
Hesjedal will be looking to continue his rise as the next era of GC riders as well as looking for wins in top one-day races such as the Montepaschi Strade Bianche in Italy.
