Oakley “Fast Jacket” Media Event at 2011 French Open
On Tuesday, May 24th, 2011 Oakley hosted over thirty media ranging from local and regional outlets to GQ and Men’s Health to launch the latest performance eyewear – “Fast Jacket”. Reigning French Open women’s finalist, Sam Stosur, men’s number 32 in the world Janko Tipsarevic, the winningest doubles team in men’s history the Bryan Brothers and several other Oakley players helped host the media at the Tennis Club Boulogne Billancourt.
The tennis club was directly across the street from Court 17 on the grounds of Roland Garros, making it an ideal location for the media event. Things kicked off with drinks, pastries and some tennis on the clay courts of the tennis club. Media were given a pair of the NEW “ Fast Jacket” to test out on the courts. The response was tremendous as the media were able to play some tennis and see what makes the new switch lock technology of the “Fast Jacket” such a game changer.
Once all the media arrived, Oakley’s Greg Welch welcomed everyone, explained the new “Fast Jacket” background story and introduced Sam, Janko and the Bryan Brothers. After the welcome speech media were allowed to interview the players, witness HDO presentations, enjoy some lunch and dessert, take in the sun with their new eyewear, and play some more tennis.
To wrap things up the Oakley Europe office hosted the embedded journalist in the VIP area of Roland Garros’ centre court – Philippe Chatrier. Where they watched the best match to date, Rafael Nadal’s first five set match ever at Roland Garros.
