Oakley’s Janko Tipsarevic Wins First Round at Roland Garros

Janko Tipsarevic Wins Opening Round Match at 2011 French Open

In typical Janko Tipsarevic style, the young Serbian took a few games to wake up and realize he was playing in the first round of a major. But once he did it was on with a furious backhand, solid net play and close to a dozen aces to storm past Argentina’s Brian Dabul in straight sets.

Janko in the new Oakley “Fast Jacket” Rx eyewear went up an early break, but then was broken back twice to go down a break, but seemed to wake up when he was down 2-5 and then ran off four of the next five games to send the first set to a tiebreak. Once in the tiebreak Janko’s experience kicked in and he stormed through to win with ease at 7-1.

The next two sets were almost a formality with Tipsarevic giving up only a single game, taking the last two sets 6-1, 6-0. Next up for the Serb is Pere Riba from Spain in round two, if Janko makes it to round three he will most likely run into the legend, Roger Federer.
