Sick Rally: Winning Streaks Continue, Oakley Athletes Blast Through AVP Hermosa Beach Event

When you’re hot, you’re hot…especially when you’re in Oakleys.

Just ask Oakley’s Phil Dalhausser, whose team (with Todd Rogers) blasted its way to a resounding victory over 13th-seeded John Mayer and Matt Prosser, 21-14, 21-11, in the AVP NIVEA Tour Hermosa Beach Open final this past Sunday.

The duo, who’ve dominated the Hermosa Beach stop for five straight years (the first team to do so in AVP history), lost only a single game during the entire weekend at one of the Meccas of beach volleyball.

Now that’s impressive. But there’s more awesomeness where that came from: Their victory marks the duos 54th open win together, moving them into third place all time – ahead of current AVP Commissioner Mike Dodd and Tim Hovland.

On the bikini side of the event, Oakley’s Jen Kessy and April Ross (both rocking Oakley Radars) pounced on Elaine Youngs (Oakley Flak jacket) and Rachel Wacholder for a 21-17, 21-14 triumph. It was Jen and April’s fourth straight victory on the AVP tour this year – and an overall victory for the Big O, which graced both sides of the net during the intense women’s final. The pair of O ladies also lost but a single game the entire weekend.

“I know it sounds greedy, but we want five (consecutive tournaments), and then we want six,” Kessy said. “We’re going to keep playing as well as we can to win Manhattan and all the other ones.”

Congratulations to all of Oakley’s high-flying, ball smashing team members that continue to bring the heat throughout this year’s AVP Tour.
