Fantastic Oakley Results at Tour of California

A fantastic Tour of California finished yesterday with an incredible Oakley exposure and also with fantastic results for our international cycling team. Lance’s came back had a huge expectation between the cycling fans, but after to see the people along all the last climb stage we can say cycling is actually a very popular sport in the USA. From downtown Rancho Bernardo, along Lake Wohlford, into Valley Center, up Palomar Mountain then back into Escondido, an estimated nearly 300,000 spectators lined roadways yesterday for the final stage.

“European-esque,” seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong said of the turnout. “Amazing.” Armstrong is staging a comeback after a 3-1/2-year absence.

With 6 victories over 8 days of race, Oakley and our new model JAWBONE dominated the Tour of California.

Olympic Time Trial champion Fabian Cancellara from Switzerland (OAKLEY) won the opening day with a fantastic victory at the Prologue, a short and very technical time Trial.

Norwegian Thor Hushovd (OAKLEY) won the stage 2 after a fantastic Sprint and a great team work for to leave him with the best position 100 meters before the finish line.

Mark Cavendish from the UK (OAKLEY) won stage 4 and 5 and finally he won the green jersey of the points overall classification.

Italian Rinaldo Nocentini (OAKLEY) put a little sun into AG2R La Mondiale’s Tour of California with a win at the stage 7 following what was a hectic day full of attacking riding. The Italian outsprinted what was left of the days’ break, having survived everything thrown at him by the elite selection in the finale.

Finally Frank Schleck from luxembourg (OAKLEY RX)edged Italy’s Vincenzo Nibali at the line to win the day in the concluding 155.8km stage from Rancho Bernardo to Escondido, the duo breaking away in the mountain descent of Palomar.

Saxo Bank completed its success with the mountains classification for Jason McCartney from the USA (OAKLEY) and Aussie’s Michael Rogers (OAKLEY) from Team Columbia finish third at the overall GC.
