The Anaheim Ducks smashed their way into the playoffs. But it was Corey Perry’s own individual rippage that really swung the momentum. The O slasher’s heroic efforts and scoring during the last couple weeks of the regular season catapulted the team from a bottom of the barrel playoff position to the middle the pack. But make no mistake. He’d been doing that all season. (In his Oakley Hockey Visor, of course.) So much so that the right wing grabbed the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy as the NHL’s top goal scorer for the 2010-11 season: the latest Duck since fellow Oakley athlete and legend Teemu Selanne took the inaugural award for his killer 1998-99 campaign.

If any Anaheim Ducks fans had any jitters about playoff hopes going into Wednesday’s contest against the San Jose Sharks…there was one thing that detonated it all. And that thing’s name is Corey Perry. Oakley’s Hockey Star smashed in three goals (and his third career hat trick) in a 6-2 clobbering of the Sharks at the Honda Center, capping off an awesome 19 goals in the last 14 games – and a league leading 50 on the season. Coincidentally, it was the first time a Ducks slasher hit 50 big ones since fellow Oakley star Teemu Selanne sent ‘em in during the 1998-98 campaign.

History was definitely made at the NHL All-Star game on Sunday. But not exactly like you may think. Oakley’s young smasher Matt Duchene took the first-ever penalty shot in NHL All-Star history…after fellow O star Alex Ovechkin chucked a hockey stick to stop his breakaway, that is. Ovi and Matt were just two of more than 30 NHL All-Star players proudly rockin’ Oakley Hockey Visors (out of a total of 48) – displaying the Big O’s enormous presence in the league and the trust star pros have in our cutting-edge technology.
