Alex Ovechkin is a professional ice hockey left winger and alternate captain for the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League. The Russian athlete first picked up a hockey stick at a Soviet toy store at the age of two and refused to let go. Alex is considered by many to be the greatest player in the NHL. In January 2008, he signed a thirteen-year contract extension worth $124 million with the Capitals, the most lucrative contract in NHL history. Watch him in the 2010 Olympics playing for Russia.
