Oakley's Teemu Selanne Back In Action Tonight

Oakley’s veteran right wing Teemu Selanne will return to play with the Ducks tonight against the Florida Panthers.

Selanne announced himself ready to jump back into action after having missed the past eight games because of a broken jaw suffered January 13 during a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins at the Honda Center.

“I think I’m playing,” Selanne said after trying out multiple variations of headgear to protect his still-healing jaw. “I talked to the doctors. Playing tonight or Wednesday (against visiting Detroit) isn’t going to be that much different. I’m very excited to be back in the lineup.”

The jaw, Selanne said, is “obviously not normal,” but with a special, football-style faceguard in addition to his Oakley visor, there should be enough protection. Selanne also tried out a full face cage during today’s morning skate, but quickly scrapped it.

“That cage, you can’t see very well,” he said.
