Los Angeles Kings Win First Stanley Cup In Franchise History

Wayne Gretzky, Luc Robitaille, Rob Blake, Marty McSorley; just a few names in a long list of hockey greats that have played for the Los Angeles Kings since their foundation in 1967. With that all-star line up in the archives of basically every Kings record in the books, you’d think the franchise would have a sea of Stanley Cup banners hanging from the rafters of the Staples Center. If you were to ask any Kings fan, they’d tell you the same; it was about time to bring the Stanley Cup to Los Angeles. Kings fans were finally rewarded for their patience this season as their team secured the most coveted prize in all of hockey. Beating the New Jersey Devils in six games, the Los Angeles Kings became the 2011-2012 Stanley Cup Champions.

O Save #2: Los Angeles Kings Hockey Star Drew Doughty’s O Visor Blocks Puck

It’s a phrase that every hockey player should know: Use protection.

And Drew Doughty is already the second NHL star, this year alone, to get the point reinforced…big time.

The Los Angeles Kings star was smacked by a shot by James Neal of the Pittsburgh Penguins to the face recently (early November). But of course, the supreme performance and protection technologies employed by Oakley’s unrivaled Hockey Visor saved the day…and his eye.

It’s no secret. Oakley Hockey Athletes dominate the ice.

It’s not all that hard, of course…being that a whole host of the NHL’s top hockey players are Oakley-equipped smashers rocking their high-tech O visors whenever they suit up for battle. So it was only fitting that some of O’s best scooped up top honors at the NHL Awards Show in Las Vegas – lead by the Anaheim Ducks’ Corey Perry, who grabbed the coveted Hart Trophy as the League’s Most Valuable Player to his team. He also claimed the Maurice Richard Award for most goals during the season.

Fellow Oakley athletes Daniel Sedin (Ted Lindsay Award), Ryan Kesler (Frank J. Selke Trophy) and Nicklas Lidstrom (James Norris Memorial Trophy) all took home honors of their own.

With biting incidents, extra rough fouls, bad blood and some truly World-Class play, the NHL Stanley Cup Finals are raging on.
Scoring Machine: O’s Anaheim Ducks Star Corey Perry Nabs Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy for Top NHL Goal Scorer

The Anaheim Ducks smashed their way into the playoffs. But it was Corey Perry’s own individual rippage that really swung the momentum.

The O slasher’s heroic efforts and scoring during the last couple weeks of the regular season catapulted the team from a bottom of the barrel playoff position to the middle the pack.

But make no mistake. He’d been doing that all season. (In his Oakley Hockey Visor, of course.)

So much so that the right wing grabbed the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy as the NHL’s top goal scorer for the 2010-11 season: the latest Duck since fellow Oakley athlete and legend Teemu Selanne took the inaugural award for his killer 1998-99 campaign.

If any Anaheim Ducks fans had any jitters about playoff hopes going into Wednesday’s contest against the San Jose Sharks…there was one thing that detonated it all.

And that thing’s name is Corey Perry.

Oakley’s Hockey Star smashed in three goals (and his third career hat trick) in a 6-2 clobbering of the Sharks at the Honda Center, capping off an awesome 19 goals in the last 14 games – and a league leading 50 on the season.

Coincidentally, it was the first time a Ducks slasher hit 50 big ones since fellow Oakley star Teemu Selanne sent ‘em in during the 1998-98 campaign.

Oakley NHL Stars Sidney Crosby of the Penguins and Alexander Ovechkin of the Capitals generally don’t get along very well.
It’ll definitely be a war. And the buildup is making it that much more intense as both have continued to steal headlines…and TV screens.

His fourth career hat trick went down before fellow Cap Tomas Fleischmann netted the overtime winner in a bona fide thriller.

“I was just trying to get my stick on the puck and make sure it winds up in the net,” said Semin, who rocks his Oakley visor every game, every day. “How many times can you try to get around guys? I was just trying not to think about it and just shoot.”
