Wayne Gretzky, Luc Robitaille, Rob Blake, Marty McSorley; just a few names in a long list of hockey greats that have played for the Los Angeles Kings since their foundation in 1967. With that all-star line up in the archives of basically every Kings record in the books, you’d think the franchise would have a sea of Stanley Cup banners hanging from the rafters of the Staples Center. If you were to ask any Kings fan, they’d tell you the same; it was about time to bring the Stanley Cup to Los Angeles. Kings fans were finally rewarded for their patience this season as their team secured the most coveted prize in all of hockey. Beating the New Jersey Devils in six games, the Los Angeles Kings became the 2011-2012 Stanley Cup Champions.
