Maui, HI (Thursday – Sunday, Jan. 4 – 7, 2007)

The first PGA tournament of 2007 is in the books. Vijay Sigh took home the win at the Mercedes Championship, on the island of Maui, but Oakley’s Will MacKenzie stole the show. Although four days of vicious wind on the plantation course at Kapalua made scoring extremely tough.  Will was able to weather the storm and stay on top of the leader board all four days in Oakley’s new Flak Jacket and Radar sunglasses. These two new sunglasses hit stores in March.

With one round to play Willie Mac was one stoke off Vijay Singh’s lead but couldn’t deliver that low round he needed on Sunday for the win and ended up in a very respectable 4th place tie, netting the young pro 1,033 FedEx points and $260,000.

The media was all over Will the entire four days because of his classic personality and off the course antics. He gave out his hotel room number telling people to call or just swing on by. Things like that are unheard of on the stiff PGA tour. In addition to Will’s antics, he enjoys spending his down time off the golf course surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking and kayaking.
