Rolling O at the British Open
It was a busy week at the Open Championship in St. Andrews, Oakley’s Rolling O Lab was positioned prominently on the Range for the week to cater to the players and caddies optical requirements. Throughout the week Oakley gained some massive exposure through the performance of winner Louis Oosthuizen. Wearing Oakley Radar, Louis took the lead after Round 2 and maintained this to take a seven-stroke victory in the historic event. On top of Louis’ performance, the Oakley brand was prominent through the collective performances of Henrik Stenson, Ricky Barnes, Danny Chia, Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell and many more,
Top-flight professional golfers, caddies, accounts and industry professionals were on the O Lab to see James Hunt and Claire Shackell do an amazing job of demonstrating our optical superiority via our scope tests and impact demonstrations. I am confident we will see some great results on the European and PGA Tours in the future from our productive week.
Our position on the Range was highly visible on BBC’s coverage of the event (see some screen grabs attached) and reports from the USA are of the same prominence on ESPN and ABC which gained the brand some massive global exposure,
Other highlights included:
David Spires co-ordinated a BBC interview with Henrik Stenson and Dan Walker about the importance of Henrik’s eyewear within which Oakley eyewear was prominent.
A visit on the O Lab from some British Soldiers as part of the Help for Heroes campaign.
Oakley’s presence in BBC’s “The story of the Championship” was also pretty special! Check it out on the BBC website
