Johnson Wins Texas Shootout

Zach Johnson (wearing a Golf Specific Flak Jacket XLJ w/G30 lenses) made a 12-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to win in sudden-death and successfully defend his Valero Texas Open title.

Johnson’s win capped a wild shootout in which seven players stood within a stroke of the lead with four holes to play. Johnson, the 2007 Masters champion followed his third-round 60 with a 70 to match James Driscoll at 15-under par.

Johnson then hit a smooth 6-iron approach shot on the first playoff hole to set up the 12 foot birdie putt winning $1,098,000 capturing his sixth career PGA Tour victory.

“I feel very lucky,” said Johnson.

“You want to put the pressure on your opponent. There’s no doubt about it,” said Johnson “It’s not like he hit a bad shot. He hit it to 20 feet; hit a good putt that missed. So it just kind of went my way.”

Johnson vaulted to the top of the FedEx Cup standings with the win, his second this year.

Johnson’s caddie (Damon Green – wearing a Golf Specific Radar w/G30 Range lens) is know as the best playing caddie on Tour – winning professional mini-tour events around Florida on his off weeks not looping for Zach.

Congratulations Zach & Damon !
