Oakley's Hoffman, Na and Nitties Finish In Top Four at FBR Open
The future looks very bright for Oakley Golf in 2009 with another strong showing at the FBR Open. This year not only did the brand have a strong presence with two Rolling O Lab’s on-site, the greenskeeper area and VIP Box, but our golfers played very well.
Taking eventual champion Kenny Perry to a three extra sudden death holes, Charley Hoffman put in a strong showing with excellent play throughout the week.
“The greens were crusty and fast. They were hard to make putts on and it was hard to get shots close to the hole,’’ said Hoffman attempting to explain the scoring on Sunday.
Coming in right behind Kenny and Charley was Oakley’s Kevin Na, wearing custom white Flak Jacket’s in the blazing Arizona sun. Na, who has now knocked on the door three times at the FBR Open while looking for his first PGA TOUR win, was visibly shaken by not winning this year.
“I’m going to win here someday,‘’ Na said. "Next year. I’m going to win here multiple times when my career is over, that’s for sure.’’
Nitties, who finished tied for fourth after a 68, also was able to find a silver lining in his failure to overtake the plodding Perry, whose 13 pars all seemed routine.
“In the end it was a good week,‘’ said Nitties. "It gives me tons of confidence. I’ve sort of proven to myself that I’m meant to be out here. I felt like I should have won by a couple out there — that’s how I was hitting it — but it also made me realize that I’m worthy of playing on the PGA TOUR.’’
