On a usual hot day in the Vegas desert, the 2nd annual Oakley Celebrity/Pro Golf Tournament kicked off at The Revere at Anthem in Las Vegas on September 5, 2006. This Billy Casper and Greg Nash Golf Course managed by Troon Golf, was the sight for some great golf. The local golf pro’s played for Vegas bragging rights and a $5,000 purse. The team competition consisted of Oakley Athletes/Celebrities, Oakley Retailers, Media, The Mirage and Event Sponsors, which made for some competitive teams. Fun was had buy all, with the winning Las Vegas Pro being Monty Montgomery from the world famous Shadow Creek Golf Club. The winning Team was Al Janc, Casey Jennings and Jeremy Moore with some great help out of the box from former UNLV golfer and PGA Tour Player Charley Hoffman. Joining Charley Hoffman shooting rounds of 66 where Ricky Barnes, Tommy Tolles and Monty Montgomery. A short but sweet awards ceremony followed the great round of golf. The awards ceremony was short, because there was still plenty of fun to be had at the After Golf Party at BARE inside the Mirage.

BARE at The Mirage hosted the Oakley Invitational after party and offered an exclusive adult alternative to the typical Vegas pool experience, with the ultimate in poolside pampering. The DJ-spun music mixes that set the mood, as guests enjoyed European-style sun worshipping secluded amongst towering palms as dolphins played mere feet away. This daytime oasis transitioned for the very first time into an evening adult playground. Chilled bottle service buckets lined the venue, keeping the Budweiser Select, Red Bull and 267 Infusion cocktails always within reach. And while dozens of guests kept their cool splashing around in the infinity-edge pool, most others just relaxed and enjoyed the music of DJ Madam Malixa amongst the Bare day beds and poolside chaise lounges.

From the perspective of The Mirage and our staff out at BARE, the Oakley crew was an exceptionally enjoyable group: fun, energetic and not your typical ‘business function’ crowd. It could not have been done without the team from 944 Magazine and their supporting sponsors, who turned this secluded SPF retreat into Las Vegas’ premier hot spot for late summer mingling and celebration.
