“Say That Again?!” 2010 British Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen Catapults Into International Stardom…In Oakley Chrome Radars
“Louis who?”
Not many people knew who Theodorus “Louis” Oosthuizen was before this past weekend, as the 2010 British Open winded down to storied close. The South African literally turned the golf world upside down as he emerged as the victor. Catapulted into international superstardom, the former farm boy trampled over the field of Open regulars…in his sick pair of Oakley Polished Chrome Radars (G30 Range Lenses), of course.
A perfect topping for Oakley’s prominence and heavy presence at the historic Old Course at St. Andrews during this year’s Open, Oosthuizen’s win ensured that Oakley’s performance dominating eyewear continued to shine on some of the world’s hottest athletes – established and emerging. In a jump from nowhere to the global spotlight, his feat was nothing short of extraordinary.
“I came in playing pretty well…made good putts the first three rounds,” said Oosthuizen after the tourney’s close. “It was a huge turn on 12…and from there on, it was just really difficult to stay composed and keep focused. To win the Open Championship is special – but to do it here today, it’s just something you dream about. I’ll just cherish it for life.”
His playing partner for the final round, Paul Casey, closed the gap to just three shots when Oosthuizen bogeyed the eighth. But a superb long putt saw the man from Mossel Bay eagle the next hole – and when his rival found the bushes on the 12th, it effectively put an end to his hopes. The result was his first major win after missing the cut in his three previous appearances at the Open.
Keeping with the big O’s strong run at the Championship, top finishers Henrik Stenson, Ricky Barnes, Danny Chia, Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell and countless others swung their way into solid finishes…with their own pairs of Oakleys shielding their eyeballs.
And our presence wasn’t just limited to the players. From the Open’s top finishers, caddies to industry insiders, the Rolling O Lab was a hit onsite, as Oakley staff catered to the optical requirements of both the pros and their caddies.
With the Open champion rocking the O, countless pros demonstrating the optical superiority of our shades and just an overall grand Oakley presence, the 2010 British Open turned out to be one heck of an overall dominant display by Oakley in golf.
Congratulations to Louis and all tourney participants who sported the O!
