If anyone has ever overlooked Ian Poulter, they were just reminded why it’s a dumb idea. Oakley’s British hotshot Golfer stormed back from behind with a killer 10-foot putt to top Luke Donald at the Volvo Match Play Championship at the Finca Cortesin Club in Spain. Down three times in the match, his putt on the penultimate green not only landed him the big victory, but it also prevented Donald from claiming the World No. 1 ranking. As a player who thrives in the pressure cooker and steps up to the plate, Ian’s performance in the last three holes in the quarter-finals – birdying all three – powered him though a two-hole deficit to Francesco Molinari to advance.

Oakley Golf is more than a rising tide. Our power-packed team of bold competitors is set to inflict some serious damage to the field at the 111th US Open at the Congressional Country Club in Maryland – June 16-19. Facing a collection of more than 100 of the country’s most talented golfers, the O crew, lead by our young superstar and current World No. 6 ranked Rory McIlroy, will vie for the title amidst the challenging 7,250 yard, Par 70 course. As Top 30 players on the PGA and European Tour Money Lists in 2010, Rory and fellow Oakley hotshot Ian Poulter automatically qualify for the event, while O’s talented Ricky Barnes will look to make his way into the field in the coming weeks.

Oakley’s Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter live on the edge. Just the way we like it. Don’t believe us? The two World Top 10 Ranked star golfers recently took it up a notch…by embarking on a covert op and hijacking the coveted US Open and Ryder Cup trophies from their fellow UK buddy Graeme McDowell. Very Oakley-like indeed.
