Luke Donald should be quaking in his boots. The World’s No. 1 ranked golfer is heading into this week’s PGA’s Honda Classic with Oakley’s Superstar, Rory McIlroy, hot on his tail – and in a position to pounce and overtake the top spot. Coming off a solid, yet somewhat disappointing final at the Accenture Match Play Championship this last weekend (where he fell to Hunter Mahan), Rory is charging into West Palm Beach with a fury. A triumph at the Honda would power him to ‘best on the planet’ status, at long last. But as always, the ever-elusive position will be far from a walk in the park to attain. Not only would the UK’s Lee Westwood have to not finish in the top two (with O’s Northern Ireland prodigy winning)…Rory and the entire field have an even bigger obstacle to worry about. The Bear Trap.

Her eventual one-stroke victory following a killer 100-yard shot, and a tap-in putt for birdie, dazzled the Thai crowd.

The PGA’s Phoenix Open is already one of the most notoriously raucous golf tournaments on the Planet. Throw in a massive Oakley presence – and the event shoots up to a whole new level of insane. “Sorry fore partying.” Rallying behind O Golf’s unofficial slogan, Oakley staff, pro golfers and participants in the nearby Oakley Skull Cup Event (culmination of Oakley Pro Am Tournaments across the country during the year) converged this year on the Tournament Players Club (TPC) Scottsdale to inject a whole lot of O culture into the gathering.

The PGA’s Phoenix Open may command the general public’s fanfare in early February. But another contest, that rocks the scene just down the street at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, is where the real hard-core, non-tour golfers focus their attention and passion in the desert. Enter the Oakley Skull Cup 2012. As the headline event that culminates the vibrant series of Oakley Pro Am golf tournaments – which hit the country’s major regions to find the most talented and explosive non-tour golfers around – Oakley’s core sport spirit collides with pure talent and a super fun atmosphere to crown a team of golfers with bragging rights and a collection of killer Skull Cups. In an East vs. West format, the two teams compete head-to-head to determine the superior men behind-the-club. All decked out in their high-tech Oakley golf apparel, footwear and eyewear, of course.
