Jon Olsson Super Sessions
The skiing/filming/photographing extravaganza that is the Jon Olsson Super Sessions is underway in Trysil, Norway before moving to Ã…re, Sweden for a big JOSS/Jon Olsson Invitational finale.
The world’s best freeskiers have gathered to represent their respective countries and session Jon Olsson’s jump creations.
Team Sweden (Jon Olsson & Oakley’s
Team Norway (PK Hunder & Andreas Hatveit)
Team Europe (Laurent Favre & Henrik Harlaut)
Team USA (Colby West & John Symms)
Team America (Oakley’s Simon Dumont & Tom Wallisch)
Team Down Under (Oakley’s Jossi Wells & Russ Henshaw)
Team Canada (TJ Schiller & Ian Cosco)
Team Sweden [Jon Olsson and Jacob Wester] were hitting the jump tandem, first doing rodeo 540s, then upping the ante to cork 900s, and finally unleashing dual Kangaroo flips, while the heli swooped overhead with their filmer. Team Norway [Andreas HÃ¥tveit and PK Hunder] were not to be outdone and were dialing dual 360s all day, with filmer Jon HÃ¥tveit in hot pursuit of the pair. Team America [Simon Dumont and Tom Wallisch] dropped everything from switch 1080s, to zero spins, even hitting the jump tandem a few times. Team Down Under [Jossi Wells and Russ Henshaw] were on a trick mission as well, rodeos, 180s and even dub cork 1260s from Russ. Team Canada [TJ Schiller and Ian Cosco] slayed like there was nothing else to do in Canada but ski. Team USA [Colby West and John Symms] spent the morning perfecting tricks for their filmers’ lenses, while Team Europe [Laurent Favre and Henrik Harlaut] dropped dubs and screamin’ seamens.
More dubs went down, from the likes of Jon Olsson, Jacob Wester, Tom Wallisch, Henrik Harlaut, TJ Schiller and IanCosco.ca. Jon HÃ¥tveit was back in the paraglider, shooting Team Norway from the skies, narrowly missing spectators, trees and landing in a rail garden… every time. Jon Olsson took the camera for some laps and smoothly followed teammate Jacob Wester. Team USA [Symms and West] were having a helmet-cam party while Team America got dirty on the jump, dropping trick after trick like it’s their job. Team Down Under [Henshaw and Wells] blunted and spun their way into a successful evening.
The teams arrived at the feature at dusk to some wind and clouds, but I’m sure that Jon made a call and things calmed down a lot and the weather turned cold and clear and perfect for a jump session. After warming up with peasant tricks [rodeos, switch d-spins, kangaroo flips] the teams moved into some way more underground types of tricks like dub 1260s and dope tandem plays. Russ Henshaw of Team Down Under fame, went from zero spins to dubs to switch right… like a normal person does. Even announcer/personality extraordinaire Luke Van Valin got on the doubles train by bombing a couple dub backflips. Jon HÃ¥tveit stopped moonlighting with the paraglider and went back to his day job – hitting the giant jump while smothly follow-camming Team Norway.
