The level of riding at Freestyle.ch was next level, this could not be more evident then in the snowboard big air contest. Riders from around the world had come to throw down on the early season big air ramp on the Landiwiese in Zurich, Switzerland.

Oakley was well represented with Swiss local Nicolas Muller chucking his chicken wing tricks and the young Canadian session Seb Toutant sticking everything he threw off the jump, including a double cork 1080.

But when it was all said and down, Oakley’s Pro Rider Series standout Eero Ettala crushed his competition with the cleanest spins and hardest stomped tricks of the day.

“I knew it would be interesting because I have not snowboarded lately,” said Ettala with his signature Finnish smile.

In the super finals he scored an amazing 96.50, which earned him the title of Freestyle.ch Champion. This is the second time Eero has won this title he also won it in 2006. The title was won on two sick tricks, one being Eero’s standard issued backside 1080 mute grab, which many believe he can do in his sleep these days, and then a first for the Finn – a switch double cork 1080!

“Damn, the contest went well,” said Ettala. “I got 1st place, which is always sick, and kind of won it out of the blue. I ended up doing a backside 1080 late cork, first time ever trying that trick, never mind landing it!”
