Three! O’s Simon Dumont Powers to Third Place Finish at Grand Prix Halfpipe

It was the first ever Ski-laced Grand Prix event. And it went off.

Despite some weather issues and a nagging injury, Oakley’s Simon Dumont spiced up the Ski Halfpipe finals – throwing down a flatspin 720 to switch 720 combo for a third place finish.

The only American podium finisher at the event, Simon came out of the gates on fire during the finals, busting out a pipe double flip 900 into back-to-back 900s (right then left) then ending with the switch 720. The result: a solid eventual score of 45.3.

“I had a lot of other plans I wanted to do,” Simon said of his second run. “But I think the weather was a factor, not really my (injured) leg as much.”

The Grand Prix, which will feature both Ski and Snowboard moving forward, will be held at Copper Mountain, CO, for the next four years, through 2014. Great news for the sport.

Congratulations Simon!
