The Supermoto season wrapped up in Southern California this past weekend, and the event was action packed. Jeff Ward locked up his 2006 AMA Supermoto Championship in the opening moto at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. allowing Jeff to push as hard as he could on the field in the year’s final race, scoring another win for 2006.

The result was a flag-to-flag victory over season runner-up Doug Henry, for the 45 year-old motorsports legend in closing out an epic season.

When asked if he ever dreamed he would experience a season like this (Motorsports Hall of Fame induction, X-Games Gold, second career AMA Supermoto title) at the age of 45, Ward laughed. “Not at this level… maybe at the local motocross in the 45 class… It’s been a big year!!” Now that is an understatement.

Jeff stated that he would be back to defend his crown in 2007, but alluded to the fact that his time at the front might be running out.

Also racing this past weekend from Team Oakley were Ronnie Renner, Drake McElroy and Mike Metzger who took 5th place in the second main event.
