Rollin’ O Fires Up the Grill for KVD

Indy to Joplin 2010 101

A bright sunrise mirrored the blue sky above Table Rock Lake for Oakley’s Big Bass Tour stop in Branson Missouri. But this event was not your average day on the lake. This year, Branson served as the host for the 2010 Kevin Van Dam Classic. Coming off his 3 Tour title and named to his 5th “Angler of the Year” award, Kevin is the Greatest Bass Fishermen in the World and this Rolling O Team found out that he can work the Barbeque too.

Registration for the event started on Thursday in Springfield MO at the Flagship of all Bass Pro Shops where contestants picked up new gear donated by the many sponsors of the Classic. But it was Friday that die-hard fishing fans will remember, as it was KVD himself who served up hundreds of burgers, chicken and hot dogs. Kevin also took the time to sign hundreds of autographs behind the grill and inside the store too.

Oakley’s Big Bass Tour offers a rare and unique stage for crowning champions. Anglers are paid $1000 at the end of each hour for the biggest fish and all anglers have a shot at the grand prize, a $43,000 Nitro Z-9 boat. To find out when the tour is coming to a lake near you, check out the official site, Oakley Big Bass.

The energy on the beach was high, as over 350 Angler’s entered the Classic and as the weekend winds down, it was Brady Meredith who hooked a 6.98lb fish on Sunday during the 12-1 hour, crowning him Champion of the 2010 KVD Classic.

The O Lab Crew would like to give a special thanks to Lewis, Mark and Keith for setting up a great weekend of fun.
