Oakley Participates In Success Of The Toyota Texas Bass Classic Held Last Weekend
Last weekend’s Toyota Texas Bass Classic was a huge success with most participants claiming it to be the best bass event in the country.
The Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC) held at Lake Conroe in Montgomery, Texas was positioned as the world championship event of the PAA Tournament Series, a three-event professional series that took place throughout the 2009 season that offered a $500,000 purse with $200,000 to the winner.
Octagon, the events promoter, combined a three-day country music festival staring top country music artist and a professional bass tournament featuring an elite field of the World’s top 60 anglers.
The event started with a Pro-Am on Thursday where two amateurs were paired up with one of the competing professionals. Each team could weigh their five heaviest fish. It was a great opportunity for amateur bass anglers to be in the boat and see how the pros fish during a competition.
At Saturday’s weigh-in Kevin VanDam & Kelly Jordan both spoke to the fifteen-thousand people watching country musicians, Pat Green and Josh Turner’s performance. They talked about Oakley’s involvement in the bass fishing industry and our polarized technology and then invited everyone up to the O-Lab positioned appropriately at the top the hill.
On Sunday KVD, KJ & G-Man all hung around the “O” at different times creating a real buzz under our canopy. In total, the O-Lab saw 250 plus people on both Saturday and Sunday. The pro anglers, the top brass from Toyota’s Outdoor Division, the Bass media editors and the spectators all came away raving over Oakley’s optical quality.
