Battle on the Bayou: Dean Rojas Claims BASS Tournament in Louisiana

Oakley’s prominence in BASS fishing continues…big time.

Exhibit O: The intense “Battle on the Bayou” BASS Tournament near Many, Louisiana, where Oakley Pro Bass Team Angler Dean Rojas emerged with a win after four days of competition on a 186,000-acre reservoir.

Rojas’ five fish limit per day of 70 lbs 15 ounces beat fellow Oakley Team Angler Gerald Swindle by a mere 1 ounce.

Dean posted wire-to-wire wins on the final Sunday – securing him his fourth overall Bassmaster career victory: With one coming in 2008 on Toledo Bend Reservoir.

Man, that’s a big fish…err fishes.

Kevin VanDam’s three-day total of a massive 69 pounds, 11 ounces from this past weekend in New Orleans (Mississippi River Delta) is the heaviest ever taken to the scale in a Bassmaster Classic with a five-fish daily limit. That’s some major fishage.

Major enough for Kevin to reel in yet another World Championship and a record-tying fourth Bassmaster Title.

Oakley’s Bass Fishing Master Kevin VanDam is definitely one of those dudes. The two most prestigious titles in the sport are the Bassmaster Classic Championship and the Bassmaster Elite Series Angler of the Year title. This year, VanDam threw both of them into his live fish holding container for everyone to see.

This past weekend the Oakley Big Bass Tour wrapped up the Carolina Big Bass Classic on Lake Norman just north of Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Rolling O Lab and crew were deployed to the Bass Pro Shops at Concord Mills Mall to host the event registration all day on Friday. Anglers and attendees had a chance to tour the O Lab and discover Oakley’s HD Polarized optics.

Last weekend’s Toyota Texas Bass Classic was a huge success with most participants claiming it to be the best bass event in the country.

The Toyota Texas Bass Classic (TTBC) held at Lake Conroe in Montgomery, Texas was positioned as the world championship event of the PAA Tournament Series, a three-event professional series that took place throughout the 2009 season that offered a $500,000 purse with $200,000 to the winner.

First Ever Oakley Bass Fishing Tournament, The Oakley North Texas Classic, A Success

The first ever Oakley Bass fishing tournament went off this past weekend at Sneaky Pete’s Resort on Lake Lewisville just north of DFW airport in Dallas, TX.

Friday’s registration was held at Bass Pro Shops Grapevine location. Nearly two-hundred grass roots bass tournament anglers showed up, registered, got an O-Lab tour and had an Al Janc cooked burger.

The National O-Lab was the center piece of the entire event – offering tours throughout the three day event to all anglers who participated in addition to BPS staff and customers interested in seeing the show.
