Fuglsang maintained the same lead over the field he had after the fifth stage of the race, finishing the sixth stage in 14th place. New Zealand’s Hayden Roulston of Team HTC Columbia took the stage, surging two seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Saxo Bank’s Matti Breschel, who led the tour after the fourth stage, took second place in the stage and finished fifth overall.
At the end of the day, Team Saxo Bank won the overall team competition on the back of Jakob’s bold performance, finishing 2 minutes 23 seconds in front of Dutch team Vacansoleil Pro Cycling.
