    The dying words of his late coach were more than likely at the top of his mind. Oakley star cyclist Cadel Evans fulfilled the dream of his coach Aldo Sassi this weekend – claiming the Yellow Jersey in Stage 20 on his way to an overall Tour de France Championship triumph. The Aussie standout, the first of his country to claim the ultra-prestigious honor, closed out what had been one of the most intensely dramatic races in years by trampling a 57-second deficit to fellow Oakley star Andy Schleck (Leopard Trek).

    O riders are continuing their charge. Star Cyclist Cadel Evans held off defending champion Alberto Contador in a photo finish to emerge with a Stage 4 Tour de France triumph on Tuesday. Fellow Oakley rider Thor Hushovd, the Stage 2 victor, finished sixth with the same time as the stage winner and will retain the coveted yellow jersey as the overall leader for the third straight day. Evans finished the 172.5-km jaunt from Lorient to Mur-de-Bretagne in four hours, 11 minutes and 39 seconds, edging the three-time Tour champion by a fraction of a tire length for his first career Tour stage win.

    When in Rome…Oakley Cycling dominates. O’s Aussie Star Cadel Evans emerged with the victory in the ancient city’s Tirreno-Adriatico Stage race on March 15 – after grabbing the overall race lead the previous Sunday. All while fellow Oakley’s World and Olympic Time Trial Champion Cyclist Fabian Cancellara sped his way into a San Benedetto del Tronto Time Trial triumph. “First stage race of the year is done and a good start to 2011 if I say so myself,” Cadel said, rockin’ his Radar (and new Fast Jacket™ performance eyewear off the course).
