Six Time Summer Games Olympian

Oakley’s James Tomkins started rowing in grammar school and has not stopped for the past 30 plus years. This year marked James’ sixth Summer Games competing in the sport of rowing. His debut was in 1988 at the Seoul, Korea Games where his team in Eight Man Rowing would finish just out of medal contention with a fourth place finish.

Over the course of the next four Olympic Games Tomkins, a part of the Oarsome Foursome would take home four medals, three gold and one bronze.

This year in China James was given the honor of being his home country’s flag bearer for the Opening Ceremonies. The Eight Man Rowing Team this year made the finals, but unfortunately finished out of medal contention. Still not bad, for a six time Summer Games athlete!
