Robert de Wilde (b. April 30, 1977 in Kampen) is a Dutch professional “Mid/Current School” Bicycle Motocross (BMX) racer whose prime competitive years were from 1990–2003. His nicknames are “The Flying Dutchman” in reference to his speed and his nationality and “Afro-Bob” because of his long wild, uncombed hair. He was chosen for the Dutch BMX Olympic team to participate in the 2008 Summer Olympics games in Beijing, China where he reached the Quarter Finals.

If you were not a pro bmx rider you would be?
I would be over weight, lazy and work 40 hours a week as an electrician.
Do you have any other special talents (music / write / draw / paint)?
I'm pretty good at sleeping.

Years as a professional
I turned pro in '99 and I'm still pro, a lot longer then I ever thought possible.
When did you start your sport?
A good friend of mine took me to the local track once and the rest is history. He is still involved in BMX too. How cool is that.
Who / What inspires you?
It could be anything. A good movie, sports moment or just a good song like eye of the tiger. This song always gets me going.
Number of years participating in your sport
To me, Oakley is
Like driving a Ferrari. The best thing there is.
If you could be someone famous, who would you be?
Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat. He has the moves and the balls to get it done.
5 Items I can't live without
Bike, sun glasses, goggles, PSP and Thump 2's.
What move / trick are you working on?
Getting out the gate faster.
