Oakley’s Steven Cisar led the United States Cycling Team on Saturday with a silver medal in the elite men’s contest at the 2008 UCI BMX World Championships in Taiyuan, China. South Africa’s Sifiso Nhlapo booked his spot to the Beijing Olympic Games when he finished third.

The 20-year-old from Johannesburg, claimed South Africa’s first ever Elite category BMX world championships medal in a thrilling final, which saw him recover superbly after being shoved in the first corner in a tightly-contested race.

In the elite women’s event, Oakley’s Jill Kintner was the top U.S. finisher in sixth place as the only American to advance to the main.

Original Oakley Factory Pilot Eric Rupe came to the BMX World’s in China for two reasons—to help the GT riders do the best they could to try and win his fourth UCI World Title in a row. On Sunday, Rupe took the Cruiser Class and won at the UCI Worlds for the fourth year in a row. Big Daddy was also on the winning USA team for the Country Team Title.
