2007 Snowball Express

On Saturday, December 2nd, more than 1,200 family members of fallen U.S. troops in our current War on Terror gathered at Oakley Headquarters in Foothill Ranch for a day of on-site sport demonstrations, entertainment, displays, activities, food, and gifts.

The second-annual event was aimed at those whose lives have been shattered by the loss of a parent, spouse, son, or daughter serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

“It was an honor for us to welcome the Snowball Express families back to Oakley for the second year,” said Lance Allega, Oakley Director of Communications. “Having the ability to share hugs, tears, smiles and laughter with the surviving spouses and children of those that have given the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom is an experience that we will take with us the rest of our lives.”

More than 900 Oakley volunteers were onsite to give a gift of gratitude to the children and spouses of those men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Other sponsors included American Airlines, Disney, Quicksilver, Best Western, Taco Bell, UPS, Panda Express, Crocs, Costco, Target, Apple and Reebok. The U.S. Military brought helicopters and other equipment for close-up viewing and organized a jet fly-by over the premises.

“Kiddie Land” included a pirate ship (fully staffed with pirates) and a bird and reptile petting zoo. “Teen Land” consisted of a computer lab set up by Apple. Outside, Outlaw Off-road, John Force Racing and Off-road Concepts showed the kids their monster trucks. Oakley BMX and skate athletes entertained the crowd on the ramps. Other Oakley athletes who were there to greet the kids included Sean Carlson, the Force sisters, Brandon Burnstein, Ryan Sheckler, Greg Lutzka and Alistair Whitton.

The event kicked off on November 30th with dinner and a performance Friday night by actor/singer Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump, CSI: NY) and the Lt. Dan Band. Saturday morning included breakfast and services at Heritage Church in Anaheim before heading to Oakley. Sunday capped off the weekend with a visit to Disneyland.
