Oakley's Kessy and Ross Win Second-Straight AVP Title
Oakley’s Jen Kessy and April Ross, both wearing Radar, won their second straight title on the AVP tour by defeating Misty May and Nicole Branaghin in Virginia Beach, VA last Sunday. Kessy/Ross are 5-0 against May/ Branagh this season the season.
The second-seeded team of Kessy/Ross took down top seeds Misty May-Treanor and Nicole Branagh 21-15, 18-21, 15-12 on Sunday for their sixth career AVP title. Kessy/Ross also defeated May-Treanor/Branagh in the finals of the Tour’s last stop in Huntington Beach two weeks ago.
“We’ve been playing pretty consistently this season internationally, but we’re trying to be more consistent on the AVP,” Kessy said. “I definitely think we’re getting there.”

“We feel we can beat anybody in the world when we’re playing our best,” said Ross, who celebrated her 28th birthday on Sunday. “I love playing against Misty and Nicole because they are so talented. The matches are getting tougher and tougher.”
Kessy/Ross jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first game and cruised to the 21-15 win. May-Treanor/Branagh battled back and took game two, 21-18.
But Kessy/Ross got the early lead in the third game and put it away on Ross’ ace that ricocheted off the arms of both May-Treanor and Branagh.
