Triple Podium! Snowboard Star Mark McMorris Lands Triple Cork for X Games Big Air Triumph, Oakley Sweep
Torstein Horgmo’s first-ever Triple Cork made Winter X Games history last year. But as always, Oakley’s athletes weren’t done pushing the envelope. Coming from behind in the Big Air Finals on Friday, Oakley’s Young Canadian Star Mark McMorris threw down a massive Backside Triple Cork 1440 to claim glory in Aspen. Also stomping a clean Backside Triple Cork 1440 himself, Torstein’s overall score of 76 in the final jam session – and a perfect score of 50 – wasn’t quite enough to overtake Mark’s 80-point explosion.
Snowboarding’s biggest stars stormed the The Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO for the 13th Annual TransWorld SNOWboarding Riders’ Poll Awards. Among the legendary cast of presenters were Oakley’s own super stars Terje Haakonsen and Danny Kass.
Torstein Horgmo is one bad man. With a 2011 season that blew the socks off snowboard fans worldwide – including an epic Winter X Games Big Air triumph (first-ever triple cork in-contest) – it’s no wonder that Oakley’s Norwegian shred machine has been the talk of the industry. And it’s definitely no surprise that a killer documentary is set to drop sometime this year.
