Brasil! Young Surf Team Ripper Caio Ibelli Crowned with ASP World Junior Title

Billabong World Junior Championships

The future of global surfing is here.

Meet Caio Ibelli, Oakley’s Brazilian Team ripper, and the newly crowned ASP World Junior Champion.

The young gun claimed the illustrious title at the Billabong World Junior Championships in dramatic fashion, knocking off previous title front-runner Garret Parkes in a Surf-Off, after Parkes was taken out in the event’s Quarterfinals (resulting in an overall standings tie).

As the Surf-Off commenced, it was Caio to begin racking up the points with a collection of minor scores. But he wouldn’t leave anything to chance.

An epic wave found Caio – allowing him to throw down solid carves and a massive air-reverse for a big 8.67 score (out of 10) and the big triumph.

“I’m so stoked to bring the ASP World Junior Title back to Brazil!” Caio said, rocking his Oakley Holbrooks, boardshorts, rash guard and gear. “I feel so amazing now! I didn’t know I had another opportunity to win, I just found out this morning. I want to thank my family, my friends and Oakley for their support. Garrett (Parkes) is a good surfer and he’s at home in Australia so I knew I had to do my best.”

His feat throws him into an awesome list of former ASP World Junior Champions – which includes fellow Oakley Brazilian rider and current WCT Star Adriano de Souza.

Congratulations to Caio – from the entire Oakley Global Family!
