Jordy Smith Charges Onto Team Oakley, Claims World No. 2 Finish on WCT
Jordy Smith has been rockin’ Frogskins, unofficially, for a while. But this year, it’s official.
The South African super charger smashed his way onto Oakley’s Global Surf Team – finishing the WCT Tour Season as the No. 2 surfer on the Planet (second only to Kelly Slater) after a killer season that saw him bag his first-ever ASP World Tour Victory.
Bringing major stoke to his countrymen/women, he emerged victorious at back-to-back contests on his home turf, taking the Mr. Price Pro then topping the six-star-rated Billabong Pro at J-Bay (Jeffreys Bay).
Riding his momentum, he scored a second-place finish at the Quicksilver Pro on Australia’s Gold Coast and was the runner-up at the Rip Curl Pro in Portugal.
With an amazing Tour season under his belt – topped with the official nod to represent Oakley in the spotlight (and get to officially sport his favorite sets of shades: Holbrooks and Froggies) – it’s safe to say that Jordy is stoked. And so are we.
