Simon Dumont's Path From a Devastating Injury to the Winter X Games Podium
Simon Dumont shouldn’t have been on the Superpipe podium last month in Aspen. Based on the condition of his wrists, he probably shouldn’t have had more than a commentator role at Winter X Games. Instead, there he stood on Day 2, a Bronze Medal around his neck and a left wrist wrapped in tape. There are characteristics about elite athletes that set them apart from the rest of us, and talent is just part of it. It’s also intestinal fortitude and a determination and dedication to put everything on the line. Dumont wasn’t going to sit on the sidelines despite his badly injured left wrist; that’s why he’s him and we’re us.

Oakley Signs Four-Time Winter X Snowboard Slopestyle Gold Medalist, Jamie Anderson
It’s not every day that you sign an elite-level athlete with Jamie Anderson’s pedigree. A four-time Winter X Games gold medalist and a U.S. Olympic-hopeful, Anderson joined Oakley’s women’s snowboard team just as she was about to embark on her mission to defend her Winter X Games 16 slopestyle gold medal. She succeeded, and now she’s on to her next goal for 2013: qualifying for the top spot on the Women’s U.S. Snowboard Team for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Oakley Pro Bali: Making the Dream Tour a Little More Dreamy
When deciding on where to host its first-ever ASP World Championship Tour event, major metropolis’ weren’t part of the discussion in the Oakley war room. The “Dream Tour,” as its sometimes called, deserved to be more dreamy and the world’s best surfers deserve to gorge themselves on Nasi Goreng, Oakley brass decided. Many thanks go out to the generations of juniors for their years of recon. The Oakley World Pro Junior has been a smashing success for years, but the time and location was right to bring the world’s best surfers, the ASP World Tour, to Bali and share with the webcast-watching world what exactly Keramas is all about. We imagine it will take about two waves to understand that “world-class” is a fitting adjective for the right-hand reefbreak.
