There’s no doubt that the recent earthquake and tsunami devastation in Japan was weighing down on his mind. But Oakley Star Snowboarder Kazu Kokubo charged forward and represented his native country in grand fashion at the US Open Snowboarding Championships in Vermont last week, emerging victorious in the Pipe final with a frontside alley-oop nosebone, front 900, Michaelchuck, frontside double cork 1080, to a Cab 1080 melon. Absolutely sick. But he wasn’t the only Oakley rider on the podiums.

Three: Jordy Smith Claims Third at Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, Holds On To World No. 3 in ASP Standings
Jordy Smith plowed through to the final rounds at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast last week. But Oakley’s South African star ripper’s killer run came to a halt as his 11.40 score wasn’t enough to top second-place finisher Taj Burrow, who finished with a 17.56 in the Semifinals – handing the third podium spot to Jordy. Kelly Slater went on to secure the win.
