Make that four in a row.

Oakley’s global icon Shaun White, the previous winner of three straight SuperPipe Golds, added yet another to the collection on Sunday – as his monster 97.33 second run sent shock waves through a record Winter X 15 crowd.

Smashing a backside air, front double cork 1080, cab double cork 1080, a front-side stale-fish 540, a double mctwist 1260 (surprise trick) and an alley-oop backside rodeo – Shaun ensured that none of his closest rivals were able to touch his score.

“Scotty had a great score and I knew I would have to pull out all of the stops and show what I have been working on in practice,” said Shaun, who was welcomed back to the competitive snowboarding with a bang (he hadn’t competed since the 2010 Winter Olympics). “It was one of the best runs that I have ever done.”

He had some ground to make up after the first run, as a charging Scotty Lago initially took the lead. But in trademark fashion, Shaun absolutely refused to settle for second.

“Tonight was a great night,” added White. “I can’t describe the feeling. All the other riders were amazing and it forced me to do my absolute best. I am so happy to have another one of these gold medals around my neck.”

Kazu Kokubo, in his new Signature Series Goggles, had an absolutely sick run of his own, displaying style and amazing vertical reach. But despite some of the crowd’s and the broadcast audience’s super positive response to his run (many thought he should have finished higher), he ended the contest in the fifth spot.

“That was definitely tough,” one of the judges said. “It was basically him, (Louie) Vito and Marcus (Malin). He went way higher, but was not as technical.”

Nonetheless, an amazing contest and a magical night for Oakley!
