Legend Continues: Skateboard Icon Bob Burnquist Claims Big Air Gold at X Games 2012
The Legend continues.
Oakley’s long-time Skateboard Icon, Bob Burnquist, facing the influx of new-generation riders pushing the envelope in the sport, claimed his fourth X Games Big Air Gold on Friday. The Brazilian, who tweaked his lower back during practice earlier in the week, dropped into the Finals with his usual aura of greatness, throwing down a killer 94.33 third run laced with an Indy 720 over to Fakie – squatting out of the run.
“The X Games have been a great event, being at this event as big as this stage with the skating this good, I couldn’t have done it without everyone who was there helping me out, including my wife,” Bob said, rocking his specially-designed Oakley MegaRamp gloves. "I definitely couldn’t have done this alone.”
The seasoned vet displayed immense resilience in the face of injury and super young guns like Mitchie Brusco (also wearing a pair of Oakley MegaRamp gloves from Bob), who claimed silver in a dazzling performance of his own.
