Oakley’s Adriano de Souza is the winner of the Onbongo Pro Surfing at Itamambuca Beach. This is his second WQS title in a row, after two years without a victory in the Tour, he won the WQS event in Itajai last week and now in Ubatuba. In the 2ft waves of Itamambuca Beach, Adriano won the first semi-final against fellow Brazilian Jihad Kohdr and then the grand final over Australian Kieren Perrow, Jihad and Kieren also confirmed they qualification on the 2008 Men’s World Tour. With this result in the Onbongo Pro Surfing, Adriano got 15,000 dollars and moved from 45th place to 11th position in the WQS rankings. Now he goes directly to the Foster’s ASP World Tour event in Santa Catarina (Oct. 30 – Nov 7), and he will try to win the event after 9 years since the Brazilian victory of Peterson Rosa in Rio.

“I am living a dream. I don’t know what to say. I am very happy winning two events in a row, but it hasn’t finished yet. My main focus is still on the World Tour event in Imbituba this week, and I really want to give my best there. I used these last two contests to train and get motivation, now I am ready, I know that it is gonna be very hard surfing against the 44 best surfers in the world, but if I win again here in Brazil, it’s gonna be perfect for me” said Adriano, who is the third Brazilian in a row to win the Onbongo Pro Surfing.
