The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) PRIME 6.0 Lowers Pro kicked off Round 1 and the first three heats of Round 2 today in increasing three-to-five foot surf at the iconic cobblestone pointbreak of Lower Trestles. Opening main-event action saw Oakley’s current ASP Dream Tour No. 8 Adriano de Souza of Brazil eliminate fellow ASP World Title competitor and defending 6.0 Lowers Pro Champion Fred Patacchia in the Round of 96.

Oakley’s Adriano De Souza Takes ASP World Tour Win at Billabong Pro Mundaka

Oakley’s Adriano de Souza,22, claimed his inaugural ASP World Tour win today, taking out the Billabong Pro Mundaka, eliminating fellow Finalist Chris Davidson (AUS), 33, in punchy two-to-three foot waves at the backup venue of Sopelana. Stop No. 8 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour, the Billabong Pro Mundaka experienced an array of conditions for the event, from clean surf on the opening day at Mundaka to a lengthy seven-day wait before a marathon 24-heat session yesterday, culminating into today’s dramatic final.
