    The Oakley Dispatch webisode series is a lifestyle and surfing documentary based around the world-class talent that makes up the Oakley pro surf team. This online series follows a broad cast of characters from different regions around the world, chasing swells and documenting the realities of being a pro surfer. The series launched earlier this year and has released four episodes to date.

    Clearing a World Record 37 feet in ‘Moto X Step Up’ was absolutely epic…in 2011, that is. The previous high mark was absolutely detonated on Friday night as Oakley Freestyle Motocross Star, Ronnie Renner, charged through an ultra dramatic 11 rounds of jumping to clear 47 feet for the glorious Gold medal. He successfully endured a head-to-head war with gravity and a determined Matt Buyten, who finally hit the bar at 46 feet.

    The Legend continues. Oakley’s long-time Skateboard Icon, Bob Burnquist, facing the influx of new-generation riders pushing the envelope in the sport, claimed his fourth X Games Big Air Gold on Friday. The Brazilian, who tweaked his lower back during practice earlier in the week, dropped into the Finals with his usual aura of greatness, throwing down a killer 94.33 third run laced with an Indy 720 over to Fakie – squatting out of the run.

    The next generation of Skateboarding is here. Enter Curren Caples. Oakley’s 16-year-old skate star – and part-time surf ripper on the side – first dropped into an X Games Skateboard Park contest in 2010, raising eyebrows by charging his way into a solid fourth-place finish. Following an injury sustained at least year’s event during practice, the bright young rider is looking to make some massive noise in Los Angeles this week and usher in a new era. Peep the Ventura native’s course preview vid – then watch out for Curren as the Skateboard Park Finals approach (Saturday at 2 p.m. Pacific)!

  • Kiwi Airborne: FMX Star Levi Sherwood Returns to X Games in Los Angeles

    Brace yourselves, X Games fans. Levi Sherwood is back. Oakley’s Kiwi (New Zealand native) Freestyle Motocross star is making his big return to Summer X Games in Los Angeles after sitting out a couple years due to a nasty injury. His last MotoX Freestyle final came in 2009 – his ‘rookie’ season – when he charged onto the scene in grand fashion, grabbing a silver medal behind the legendary Travis Pastrana himself. All at the ripe old age of 17. With stiff competition this year, the Final, set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Pacific (Thursday, June 28) will see Levi throwing down big time in a year when he claimed the Red Bull X Fighters opener in Dubai just a few months ago.

    Skate legend Bob Burnquist has returned to his home away from home: X Games- Los Angeles. The Brazilian skateboard pro is back in Los Angeles and preparing to compete in the Big Air contest; an event he has won three times since its introduction to the X Games. Burnquist is a proven veteran and has competed in the X Games since it began in 1995, earning 20 medals during that time.
