Oakley Design Brief - The Wrap Party
The Oakley Design Brief, presented by Daydream Network, has been a unique opportunity for the UK’s top young designers and artists to customise an exclusive limited edition pair or Oakley Hijinx™ sunglasses.
Launched on May 19th 2008, the Oakley Design Brief presented artists with a unique and challenging canvas. Over a 2-month period entrants were able to download a design template from www.oakleydesignbrief.com and submit their treatments directly to Oakley to be judged by a panel of experts.
On Thursday 23rd October the good, the bad and the talented gathered at Cordy House in Shoreditch, London to find out which design would come out on top and who would become the UK’s exclusive Oakley Artist joining the elite global line up including Art Chantry, Todd Francis, The London Police, Frank Kozik, C100, Naomi South, Barry McGee and Will Barras.
The project ‘exhibition’ (cunningly disguised as bit of an Oakley mega party) welcomed Hit+Run to the UK for their live screen printing debut in the capital. Guests could also have a go at creating their own Hijinx™ design on the YrWall – an interactive digital wall that mesmerised on lookers throughout the night. Entertainment came from DJ Session, Young&Positive, Patchwork Pirates, The Equalizers, Soda Boys and The Nextmen and our incredible event sponsors, Red Bull, Palma Louca and Ministry of Sound Vodka kept the dance floor filled until the wee small hours.
Arguably the most important part of the evening was the reveal of the winning design! After all the rounds of judging, Oakley and Daydream Network were proud to announce ‘Who Is This Kid?’ as the overall winner. His design is already in production and will be released as an Oakley exclusive in the UK in 2009.
Congratulations to Who Is This Kid?
