Ironman Athlete Day At The Rolling O Lab
What a great way to wrap up an amazing event, once again Oakley’s Greg Welch came through with a huge turnout of Oakley triathletes. Close to a dozen former Ironman World Champions were in attendance including the 2008 Champions Chrissie Wellington and Craig Alexander.
The Rolling O Lab was in the prime location of downtown Kona on Alii Drive, which allowed for invited media, local accounts, consumers and fans a chance to mingle with the athletes. Private tours for invited guests were a big hit with the media and athletes. Craig and Chrissie signed autographs and took pictures with fans for well over an hour.
At 1pm Chrissie Wellington auctioned off the Enduring Pace Breast Cancer Awareness sunglasses she wore the day before, resulting in her second Ironman World Championship. Chrissie gave a heart-warming speech about what the glasses meant to her with her grandmother passing away of cancer just a few weeks prior to the race.
To top off the day Welchy had Craig Alexander and Chrissie Wellington open up a bottle of bubbly to celebrate their wins.
Big thanks to John Storlie and his crew over at Hawaiian Pedals, the number one Triathlon and Sports Shop in Kona, for being our go to shop for consumers interested in Oakley all week. John had record sales in Oakley eyewear this past week and was stoked to have the O Lab just one block from his shop.
Additionally, Ryan Evert and his O Lab crew once again did a fantastic job with working in a new location and delivering once again a killer presence for education, marketing and brand interaction.
