A Classic Pro/Am
Oakley continued it’s authentic grassroots golf campaign with another Pro/Am tour stop in Spanaway, Washington. This location is close to the heart for Oakley golf’s poster boy Ryan Moore, who grew up in the area and owns the host golf course – Classic Country Club.
Ryan has been with Oakley since his days at UNLV, wearing our apparel and footwear. Moore’s year has been plagued with injuries, but still has pulled together several solid results on the PGA Tour resulting in $1.5 Million in tour earnings thus far. Look for Ryan to finish strong in his last three tournaments of the year.
Last year’s Pro/Am fought through some tough Northwest weather, but this year the event was pushed up a month and blessed with perfect mid-70 and bluebird skies – truly ideal conditions for golf. Additionally, the course was given the royal Oakley Golf style treatment with spray painted tee boxes, fairways and sand traps, as well as banners, sails, posters, tents and glass display cases showcasing different Oakley products on course.
New for this year at the Classic and maybe the best part was the presence of the Regional Rolling O Lab West & it’s crew of Bryan, Sean and Kyle making their first visit to the Northwest Golf Community. The response was overwhelming from the local golf pros and players, who gave praise not only to the O Lab’s amazing footprint at the Classic, but it’s strong educational aspect.
Before any of the golfers hit the golf course they signed in, were given an Oakley bag with several gifts, then took a VIP tour of the Rolling O Lab and closed out the tour by building their own custom Flak Jackets. The custom program has been taking the world by storm, first starting with the Rev Tour late last year to the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing and now gaining more exposure and praise in Spanaway, Washington.
Fun conditions with the perfect weather, a friendly beverage cart girl, prizes – including a BMW 1.35i for a hole in one on number four and cold hard cash up for grabs provided top notch play with several players scoring under par.
After a fantastic round of golf on the challenging Classic CC course, everyone was treated to an awesome BBQ and chill time. Once the food digested in everyone’s stomaches it was time for the pro clinic hosted by Oakley and Ping. Aaron Baddeley, Ben Crane, Bubba Watson and Ryan Moore put on a display of how to hit everything from wedge shots to long booming “Bubba” drives.
Each player took a different golf shot and explained how they hit the club, showcased there skill set by example and answered questions from the crowd. The clinic was a big hit for the 200 plus that showed up to watch four of the best young PGA Tour players smack some balls around.
Big ups to Oakley Washington Sales Matt & Jenna Crane, Oakley Sports Marketing Golf Manager Al Janc and of course Mike, Jeremy and Ryan Moore for pulling off another fantastic Oakley Pro/Am at the Classic Country Club!
