Oakley Family: Action Sports & Hollywood Collide at ‘Learn to Ride,’ Sundance Film Festival
You know the line. It’s from none other than Oakley superstar music artist/producer, Lil Jon. Just one member of Oakley’s power-packed entertainment and sports family.
There’s no better display of The Big O’s uniquely glamorous network of celebrities, global music superstars, Hollywood A-Listers and world-class athletes – sharing the Oakley love – than at the ultra-famous Sundance Film Festival every year.
Dropping in for Oakley’s famous “Learn to Ride” event at this year’s Festival, scores of celebrities collided with Oakley Snowboard Stars Danny Kass (Olympic Medalist) and “The Dingo” – as well as Oakley Team Surfer Erica Hosseini and Skate Team Rider Lauren Perkins – to shred some powder.
First visiting Oakley’s Sundance “Headquarters” throughout the week (Danny Masterson’s “Downstairs” venue) to pick out Oakley Snowboarding gear, mingle with Tinsel Town’s hottest and chat with select media personalities, the stars got down with the full Oakley Sports and Entertainment experience.
“Using our longtime heritage in sport – and the ability to have athletes as teachers and celebrities as students, Oakley Learn to Ride continues to be the hottest ticket outside the theatre at Sundance.” said Jeremy McCassy, Oakley’s Alternative/Entertainment Marketing Manager.
With Aaron Paul, Andie MacDowell, Anne Heche, Anthony Mackie, Chris Masterson, Cisco Adler, Courtney Mazza, Danny Masterson, Eric Christian Olsen, Jamie Chung, Justin Long, Laura Prepon, Lil Jon, Mario Lopez, Michael Kenneth Williams, Ryan Kwanten, Sal Masakela and more in the house, it was an intimately impressive gathering of famed Oakley lovers each day of the week.
With a full fitting, which included Oakley outerwear, goggles, beanies, gloves, hats and DC snowboard – it all was topped off with mounted Go Pro cameras that delivered personalized footage of boarders charging the mountain.
And there was plenty of sick riding.
From first-timers to experienced snowboard/ski veterans, every level was represented. But more importantly, the stoke was definitely in the air for all.
After all the action began wind down, the O family and lucky fans returned to the venue at night to rage at “Oakley at Hyde Sundance” show – where Oakley artists Kate Voegele, Cisco Adler, Lil Jon and special guest Skylar Grey lit the evening on fire with magical performances. (Full story on the show to come later.)
