Oakley, Inc. today announced the launch of two new, special-edition OneSight frames that will be sold exclusively at LensCrafters. With each sale of the special edition OneSight Currency™ ophthalmic frame and special edition OneSight Gascan® sun frame, Oakley and LensCrafters will provide a total of $20 USD to help fund OneSight programs dedicated to restoring and preserving clear vision for those who lack the means and access to proper eye care and eyewear.

“We are thrilled that two of our strongest corporate partners have joined forces to help us help the world see,” said Greg Hare, Executive Director of OneSight. “The revenue from this project will help us provide complete eye care and glasses to thousands in need through our optical clinics.”

“At the heart of Oakley is a deep commitment to innovation which translates into our approach for solving critical social issues. Building upon our longstanding partnership with OneSight, we are proud to help generate awareness and funds through this product collaboration to improve access to vision care around the world,” said Oakley CEO Colin Baden.

“Millions of people around the world suffer from impaired vision that keeps them from clearly seeing a beautiful sunset or the love in their mother’s eyes, and we want to change that,” said Mark Weikel, President, LensCrafters. “That’s why we are so proud to support OneSight. For more than 20 years, our associates, doctors and lab technicians have been driven by compassion to harness their skills and provide primary vision care and quality eyewear in communities around the world. This is one more way LensCrafters can help, and we are thrilled to provide the opportunity for our customers to get even more involved in our efforts by purchasing the Oakley OneSight glasses,” Weikel concluded.

The charitable contribution will be made on the purchase of each Oakley OneSight special edition frame sold at LensCrafters stores in the U.S., Canada & Puerto Rico, while supplies last. Luxottica Retail North America Inc. (LensCrafters) and Oakley, Inc. will each provide $10 USD contributions for qualifying purchases. Note that the contributions made by the companies are not tax deductible for the purchaser of the frame.

According to the World Health Organization, 284 million people worldwide suffer from poor vision simply because they cannot afford or do not have access to care. In some countries, a pair of eyewear costs more than a month’s salary. It is the mission of OneSight to restore and preserve clear vision to these people, as well as to protect those in high-risk areas from developing vision impairment from sun-related exposure. Since 1988, these charitable efforts have provided free vision care and eyewear to more than eight million people and have granted millions of dollars toward optical research and education.
