2011 Lucas Oil MX Nationals at Red Bud
On July 2nd, 2011 the six and arguably most prestigious National on the tour kicked off with sunny skies and hot, humid temperatures. The storms and rain from the night before turned the grounds around Red Bud USA into a wet, muddy mess. Even with the sloppy conditions, thousands of fans descended upon Buchanan, MI to be a part of this great racing event. Everyone was giving shout outs to Red Bud, saying, “Red Bud, Reeeed Buuud, Red Buuuud!” The vibe was all motocross and everyone was having a great time. The Rolling O Lab was in the vendor area giving tours and educating fans on HDO and the advantages of XYZ optics. People marveled at the Sport Chassis and where in awe of the incredible presence the O Lab had at the track.
The racing action was pure excitement as Oakley’s Ryan Dungey, and Ryan Villopoto battled Chad Reed for the overall points lead. An early crash in Moto 1 of the 450 class sent Ryan Villopoto to the back of the pack, but he rallied his way to a 9th place finish with no visor and a missing muffler! Ryan Dungey took second behind Reed. In Moto 2 the battle continued, but this time the victory would go to Villopoto. Dungey took second and Reed claimed third still holding on to the series lead. Both Dungey and Villopoto proudly wear their own signature series Oakley MX goggles.
We want to thank everyone who stopped by the O Lab on Saturday and we look forward to Spring Creek, in Millville, MN coming up on July 16th
